Joe was born at an extremely difficult time in his mom's life. Her husband had just been taken away back to Planet Paion, and since she had grown to love him very, very much, and had no way of going there to get him back, she had nearly lost the will to live. But when Joe hatched, Jody realized that, in a way, Rallen still lived on inside him. It is because of Joe that Jody was able to find the strength and motivation to keep going, and to remain glad that she ever met Rallen.

They lived in a cave that was hidden amidst the trees of Tao Woods. There, Jody pampered the little Pawniard and did everything she could for his sake. Because she didn't get enough nutrition when she was younger and evolved too early, her armor had become weak and brittle, and she was determined to not let her son go through the same fate. Using what she learned from Rallen, she became able to prepare food just as well as he could. Under all circumstances, she never let her son eat meat, and made sure to ingrain in him the value that ALL life was precious, lessons that she learned the hard way in her lifetime. She also told stories to him about her adventures with the Rogues' guild, igniting a passion in him for action and adventure, too. He then vowed that he would one day be able to do awesome things like her.

Having learned the move Fling, but without having any opposable thumbs, Jody bought him a black scarf to tie around his right arm as a way to fling stuff. He also hated the name his mother gave him, "Joey", because it sounded too much like her's (and rather girly, too). Eventually, Jody relented, and let her son think of a name for himself. He eventually decided on Bisharp, because that's what he wanted to be when he grew up.

Jody took care of him until she was reasonably sure he was ready to live on his own. She actually DID tell him the truth about his father (minus the fact that he was a Beheeyem, since she didn't think that was too important). However, talking about Rallen, even for a second, would ALWAYS make her cry uncontrollably out of grief, and she wanted to be strong for her son. It was during this time when Joe vowed to become a better man than his father ever was. After registering him for the Rogues' guild, Jody left, promising to return someday with more stories of awesomeness.

Unfortunately for him, Joe couldn't think of a team name, either. It wasn't until he defended an innocent Ralts from bullies—which gave Devonshire the idea to make the two of them a team—that he thought of the name Team Nighty Knights, and even then, it was Ralts who suggested it. By that time, it was too late for them to complete Mission 1, but then Ralts ended up following a bunch of kids with unusually happy auras. Not wanting to be yelled at by his bosses for losing a teammate, he followed her, and there, met Team Pecha and Team Elgyem. He let Ralts live with them, for the sake of her health, but insisted on sleeping outside, where he could defend the house from people who wanted to eat it. (In reality, he couldn't stand to live in such a girly-looking house, but the one time he admitted it to Amy's face and teased her about it, she burned him badly with her Flamethrower, and he's learned to hold his tongue about it ever since.) Devonshire not only allowed them to live in the Pecha Berry House, but specifically requested them to, in the hope of obtaining useful information from the Rescuers and Merchants.

However, he…wasn't exactly the best of Rogues. He would often lounge around and do nothing, and only do stuff when the missions involved action and danger. He only exerted the most minimum of effort in missions and events, and seemed more concerned with getting better though battles than completing actual mission objectives. Devonshire nearly kicked the guy out of the guild out of frustration, but little Ralts protested that they should stay, for the sake of her protection. After all, they needed her item-thieving skills. In Event 2, after getting an Evolution Scroll as a reward for getting Master Zhu's fireworks back, he finally evolved into a real Bisharp and has enjoyed it ever since.

Since he was so thrilled, in Event 3, he let Ralts choose whatever reward she wanted. Instead of evolving like him, she wanted a new little sister, and picked out an egg that hatched into Lipless the Gothita, whom she personally named. It was at this time that he exchanged his little black scarf for a long, flowing black one that he tied around his neck and let fly in the wind to make him look more awesome. In Mission 5, the Pecha Berry House was destroyed, and he chose to live in Castle Draclugia along with everyone else while Tao Village was being rebuilt.

It wasn't until Event 6 when he was able to leave Castle Draclugia and decided to move back into the old cave he and his mom used to live in. He got a huge surprise, though, when he found that not only his mom was back, but so was the father he had never met...who turned out to be a much better father than he had ever imagined.

Mission 7 was when his life changed forever when he met a Pawniard by the name of Tori in the Spinda Cafe. Upon seeing her, he tried to recruit her into his "personal Pawniard army" because he figured all Bisharps should have one, and there weren't many Pawniards in Tao Village to choose from, anyway. But because Tori didn't understand what money was (and had none to begin with), she was unable to pay for her meal, and Joe, having money, blackmailed her into joining him in exchange for paying for her. Headstrong Tori wasn't one to be ordered around like a slave, though, and kept rebelling against his orders no matter how much he insisted. In the process, Lipless became badly injured, and they retreated to Bane's cave to help heal her. There, when Tori assumed he was Lipless' biological father, he furiously denied it and set her straight. He then admitted about how he adopted Lipless to show appreciation for Ralts, as well as how Lipless eventually gave him the desire to become a good father, as good as his own dad, if not even better. To his surprise, Tori didn't laugh at him, and instead supported him. Never having anyone show compassion for a dream like his (mostly because he was too scared to ever admit it to anyone), he then began to fall in love with her, for real. Upon completing the mission, he apologized for his horrible treatment of her earlier and tried to make it up to her by offering her a place to stay with his parents, and she agreed.

Though his parents were thrilled to see him bring a girl home, Tori still proved to be rather tough and abrasive to Joe's newly-gentle feelings towards her, and unintentionally hurt his feelings a lot. Not used to the pain of being emotionally hurt, he almost called the entire relationship off when Tori not only discovered that he had legitimate feelings for her (instead of treating her like a possession like a cocky jerk), she realized she had been hurting his feelings, and apologized. It was also during this time when his little brother and sister, Gimi and Dari, hatched, and though he was extremely shocked (mostly at his parents forgetting to tell him), he soon became attached to his new little siblings.

One day later, Tori's dad and five sisters came to town, and Tori wanted them out of there not just before they could end up hurting Joe, but so Joe wouldn't learn how horrible her family was compared to his. In addition, she didn't want to confront her dad UNTIL she had evolved and finished her training to take over leadership of her family. No such luck—Tori's oldest sisters Slice and Dice forced Tori to bring Joe along to play a game of Truth or Dare with them all (minus their dad and youngest sister). Though he never even HEARD of the game before, Joe assumed that he'd do fine, and for a while, he did, especially when he dared Tori to let him kiss her. It was the first kiss he ever had in his life, and he thoroughly enjoyed it—perhaps a little too much. He became so overconfident that he asked to be dared something, and ended up being dared to make Tori cry by any means possible. But he loved Tori so much he couldn't do it, and in the end, wounded Tori and cried for doing so, horrified at what he had done. It is said that from that point on, he developed a strong dislike for the game.

He also unfortunately discovered that he had a very hard time controlling himself while kissing Tori from that point on, and his dad, the self-control master, helped him realize that this was probably because he was afraid that Tori would one day leave him since she didn't realize she loved him—which unfortunately, did happen, because Tori was terrified that she wouldn't stay true to Joe and would cheat on him in the future, and wanted to leave him before she could hurt him like that. Thankfully for him, Tori's sister Katana knocked some sense into her and made her realize she truly did love Joe, and she came running back, confessing that she loved him and begging for his forgiveness. He accepted by kissing her, and to his relief and joy, found that her confession of her unconditional love was all it took to help him control himself and be gentle with her.

Tori thought about changing the guy's name, which was Bisharp at the time, and heard about how his mother used to call him Joey all the time. He still hated it, though, so Tori suggested "Joe" instead, and thus, the name stuck.

To this day, he, Tori, and Lipless live in the cave with his mom and dad, along with his new little brother and sister, Gimi and Dari. And ever since Ralts (now known as Ellie) came back, she lives there, too.

:star: Current Personality: :star:

Joe lives for action and danger, and tends to punch bad guys through walls. In fact, no matter how many times Devonshire makes him pay for the walls he's busted, he continues to do so. When there's nothing exciting going on, though, he sits back and lounges around, doing nothing and making little Ralts and Lipless do all the boring work. Much to Amy's chagrin, he is almost NEVER serious.

Because his mother taught him to value all life no matter what, he actually cares about Ralts and Lipless (and by extension, Amy, Chikorita, Ligray, and Rigley) very much. He just doesn't like to show it since he doesn't want to be seen as a sappy guy. Plus, he figures it'll be a good experience for them to learn how to do things themselves.

At the same time, a lot of aspects about his personality come from the fact that he was his mother's only son for the longest time, and because he was the only reason she could keep on living until she figured out how to get Rallen back, she pampered him to no end. As a result, he became selfish, bossy, lazy, and sometimes whiny. He also has VERY LITTLE in the way of self-control, though Rallen is starting to help him out with that.

A striking feature about Joe (and the primary reason why Ralts sticks with him instead of Amy and Chikorita) is his unusual resistance to pain. Sure, he feels physical pain from battles, but he rebounds from such injuries so quickly it's like he was never affected at all. In addition, there has yet to be anything that could emotionally scar him. He's pretty much always happy-go-lucky and cheerful, and any negative emotions he does have fade away quickly. He of course will claim that this is because his mom fed him well enough to have super-strong armor, but in reality, it's more because of his personality. He's more or less fearless, and doesn't seem to know the meaning of the concept of "giving up." It's like all attempts to teach him to back off bounce right off his head, but it's this attitude that also gives him such resilience, and is reason enough for Ralts to stick with him.

Upon falling in love with Tori, however, a completely new side to his personalty has been revealed. Around her, he's extremely gentle and loving, and harsh words and actions hurt him WAY more than they otherwise would have. He can never seem to get enough of hugging and kissing her, and always does his best to respect her wishes and make sure she's in a good mood, because when she's happy, he's happy, too.

In terms of fashion, he's about average. He only wears what he thinks will make him look awesome and at the same time not get in the way when fighting. Oh, and he DESPISES maid dresses almost as much as his mother.

He cares for his mom very much, but isn't nearly so enthusiastic about his dad (although he does respect the guy WAY more than he lets on, mostly because Rallen turned out to be a better dad than Joe ever imagined). Of course, their relationship is getting better, but in general, Joe will listen to his mom way more often than his dad.

From his dad, he appears to have inherited the personalty traits of being a complete fail at flirting with women, finding real love with the most unlikely girl ever, having a HUGE ego, and liking cool things and fun sayings. From his mom, he seems to have inherited her nature and characteristic, her enthusiasm, her TERRIBLE ability of coming up with names, her intense hatred for maid outfits and the Magnet Pull ability, and her "steal from the rich, give to the poor, and punch bad guys through walls" motto.

:star: Hobbies and Skills: :star:

:bulletpurple: Flirting with older women.  Joe tended to have a romantic preference for older women (ages 17+), particularly dragon-like ladies who were experts in combat. Ever since he fell in love with 17-year-old Tori, though, the flirting has stopped cold in its tracks, as he realized that all those other times before her were mere cases of short-lived unrequited infatuation, and wants to be good to Tori above anyone else.

:bulletpurple: Challenging strong Pokémon to battles. Joe also loves to have battles with other strong Pokémon so that he, too, can be awesome like his mom. Strong Pokémon only—he knows better than to pick fights with one of the little kids who don't want to fight. One of his frequent challengers is Isaac the Lucario of Team AuraShock, which almost always ends in defeat since the guy's a Fighting/Steel type and knows the always hitting Fighting-type move Aura Sphere, but Joe will always say, "There's always tomorrow!"

:bulletpurple: Acting. Upon discovering that he was hiding his true feelings all along, and that it was Tori whom he could be his true self around, he began to think that it wouldn't hurt to try acting as a possible career choice. As it turned out, he liked it! He often practices stage plays at Mienfoo's Dojo and performs them at the Spinda Cafe.

:bulletpurple: Target practice. Another method he has up his sleeve to perform awesomely at battles is for him to practice the accuracy of his Fling move. Of course, his accuracy is already top-notch, but he prefers to keep it up so that his skills don't erode away from non-use. He can throw anything—rocks, sticks, spears, items, berries, other Pokémon—and can hit anything, from tips of trees, to windows, and even other Pokémon who are far away.

:bulletpurple: Wrestling (with his mom!). Since he wanted to be as awesome as his mom, she would often wrestle with him to see just how close he was to reaching that goal. Of course, since he was a little Pawniard back then, his mom would always win. Now, though, they're a little more evenly matched, though Jody still holds a slight upper hand because of her extensive battle experience.

:bulletpurple: Extreme sports. Joe enjoys such activities as surfing and especially snowboarding, often only possible when traveling to places like Alomomola Bay and Whispering Peaks, respectively. Though it's hard to get much practice in considering how far it takes to walk to those places, it's one of his favorite pastimes he partakes in (and shares with his little brother Gimi) whenever he's bored.

:bulletpurple: Spicy food Connoisseur. His most favorite foods to eat are anything spicy, especially Spelon Berries and Cheri Berries. In fact, he's learning from his dad how to cook such dishes. True, he had ZERO cooking skill back in Mission 6 so he has a long way to go, but he's trying.

:star: Life goals: :star:

To make his mom proud, to be awesome, to become strong enough so he can defend his friends, to have fun, and above all else, maintain his precious relationship with Tori (and if possible, marry her in the future and raise a family, too).

:star: Trivia: :star:

:bulletpurple: Joe used to be the only one in his family who didn't have a nickname because his father was tragically absent when he hatched, and he rejected his mother's suggestion. As a result, he picked out his own name…which was Bisharp because he always wanted to evolve into one.

:bulletpurple: The relationship between Joe and Tori is the only relationship among my characters that's between a character of mine and someone else's, in this case, ~CrimsonAngelofShadow's.

:bulletpurple: Bisharp was one of the few Generation V Pokémon I thought would be cool if I tried learning how to draw back then, and despite their evil reputation, I'm still glad I did so.
Fun fact: Everything in Joe's history section that occurred between Mission 7 and Event 7 were events that CrimsonAngelofShadow and I RPed while we were working on the first 20 or so pages of our Mission 7 entry.
